In Angela Starks’ article “The Skinny on Fats” in
the August issue of Satya, Nathan Pritikin’s low fat diet was
discussed and the following comment made: “Sadly, he took his
own life when his realized his Spartan regime was not working.” There
is no factual basis to this speculation and the Satya staff and Angela
Starks regrets printing it. After a long struggle with leukemia Nathan
Pritikin took his own life. During his lifetime, he made a very important
contribution to the understanding of how diet affects health. Satya apologizes for any offense, confusion or harm this error caused.
