The past few issues of Satya have covered
some pretty intense topics, so we thought we’d lighten things up a
bit with some wine and beer—you know, get into a celebratory
mood as the holidays approach.
Well, little did we know that when you scratch the surface, there are
deep issues involved (as with everything in life): organic, sustainably-grown
and non-vegetarian ingredients; local brewers; small, independent vintners
and distributors, etc.
In this issue, we present the research we’ve gathered and introduce
you to some of the people behind the great wines and brews that are
available. Hopefully you’ll give them a try or seek others out
to enjoy as well.
On the Horizon
And, as some of you may have noticed, we have recently been falling
further and further behind schedule. We want readers to be able to expect
Satya to hit the streets and arrive at their doorstep during
the first week of the month. So, we decided to make two double issues:
this issue, November/December, and January/February. In March, we will
return to our monthly format and be back on track.
January/February will explore the different issues surrounding companion
animals, including shelter systems and adoptions, language used to
discuss
them, vegetarian cat and dog foods, and exotic “pets” (like
big cats and reptiles). March will feature original essays from our
readership on violence and activism. (Please note, we will be accepting
essays until January 15th. Click here to
learn more.)
As always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions.
From all of us at Satya, we wish you a lovely holiday season
and a peaceful new year. Bottoms up!
